Lágrimas Negras – Bebo & Cigala

Este álbum do lendário pianista cubano de jazz Bebo Valdés e do cantor espanhol (cigano) de flamenco Diego El Cigala é uma das maiores demonstrações de que a música, quando interpretada por virtuosos, se transforma em algo verdadeiramente sublime, capaz de transportar o ouvinte para uma realidade paralela, numa verdadeira catarse de emoções.

«Lágrimas Negras» reúne um conjunto de grandes clássicos da música romântica latina, interpretadas com verdadeira mestria por Bebo Valdés, músico que já ultrapassou a barreira dos oitenta e cinco anos de vida, e por um dos maiores cantores de flamenco de Espanha, o ilustre Diego El Cigala, com cerca de menos cinquenta anos de vida.

Num projecto da responsabilidade da conceituada editora Calle 54 Records, com Fernando Trueba, autor do filme de homenagem ao Jazz Latino (Calle 54), como grande impulsionador, encontram-se colaboradores de excepção, que conferem mais valias consideráveis, a um trabalho já por si notável.

São, pois, de destacar nomes como: Javier Colina (contrabaixo); Piranã, Tata Güines, Changuito e Pancho Terry (percussão); Paquito D’Rivera (saxofone) e Ninõ Josele (guitarra flamenca).

Destaque ainda, para o músico brasileiro Caetano Veloso que recita «Coração Vagabundo» (uma das suas primeiras canções), no tema «Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar», de Vinicius de Moraes e António Carlos Jobim.

Foi um dos álbuns de maior sucesso de vendas em Espanha, em 2003, tendo estado mais de 78 semanas na lista dos 30 álbuns mais vendidos, para além de ser um álbum multi-premiado, destacando-se a distinção do jornal The New Work Times, que atribuiu a este trabalho o título de “The Best Album Of The Year“, e já recentemente recebendo um dos reputados prémios da Radio BBC 3, dedicados à World Music, na categoria de «Boundary Crossing».

Existe igualmente uma edição num conjunto CD+DVD, que para além do álbum «Lágrimas Negras», trás também um DVD intitulado «Blanco y Negro», que contém 19 canções gravadas ao vivo, num concerto realizado a 22 de Junho de 2003, em Palma de Maiorca.
