[Next Big Thing] The Vaccines – What did you expect from the Vaccines?

De tempos a tempos surge uma nova banda que veio para salvar o mundo e livrar o mundo da ausência de “novidade”. (Estrategicamente) uma semana antes do lançamento do novo (muito aguardado) álbum dos Strokes, quatro rapazes de Londres lançaram o seu disco de estreia depois de um enorme hype provocado pelo EP anteriormente disponibilizado de apenas 3 músicas.

Num mundo muito marcado pelos sintetizadores e pelo poder da tecnologia os Vaccines recuperam a simplicidade dos anos 60/70 através da fórmula vencedora baixo-bateria-guitarra.

Certamente que para muitos este «What did you expect from the Vaccines?» será o disco que os Strokes deviam ter lançado ontem, mas que não consegue ser, uma vez que, ao quarto disco, estes decidiram deambular por outros caminhos de eficácia suprema duvidosa.

Mas a estreia dos Vaccines é de um poderio surpreendente, a fazer lembrar o aclamado «Is This It» dos Strokes, numa colecção de hits que as radios indie colocarão a rodar massivamente e que irão catapultar estes jovens para o centro da “cena”. De realçar que as influências da banda são sinónimo de bom gosto:“50s rock ‘n’ roll, ’60s garage and girl groups, ’70s punk, ’80s American hardcore, C86 and good pop music”. Ramones, Beatles, The Jesus & Mary Chain“…you name it!

Para os Portugueses, no dia 16 de Julho (mesmo dia em que actuam os Strokes) haverá oportunidade de comprovar o que valem estes Vaccines ao vivo, uma vez que já têm presença confirmada no próximo Festival Super Bock Super Rock!
